How to Foundation Half Double Crochet Stitch (FHDC)
For the foundation half double crochet stitch you will chain 2 and work into the first chain but, you will yarn over (grab some yarn) before working into the first chain.
Be sure to go through both of the loops then yarn over and pull it back through both of the loops. Be sure to push the yarn down the shank of your crochet hook and not just use the tip – this will keep your stitches from being too tight.
You will now have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and go through the first loop only to form your chain.
