Beginner Crochet Baby Blanket
My earlier blog giving 10 useful Beginner Crochet Tips told the story about my first crochet project that I did. It was a baby blanket that I made for a colleague friend who was pregnant at the time. I was new at crocheting and the thrill of creating a gift for her was special.
If you are wanting to crochet a baby blanket as a beginner crochet project, here is my pattern that I use and recommend. If you need help with how to create the stitches, visit my video tutorial page, I have easy to follow step-by-step videos that will show you.
Quick and Easy Beginner Crochet Baby Blanket (36 inch x 36 inch)
- Chain until you reach your desired length then, chain a few more (because it will shrink as you add rows).
- Count your chains.
- Then, single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook. (Your hook is already in the first chain).
- Then, single crochet in each stitch thereafter along the row.
- Go back and count your stitches. You should have 1 stitch less than your starting foundation chain.
- If you have the correct amount of stitches, chain 1 then turn your work.
- Single crochet in the first stitch in the next row and in every stitch along the row.
- Count your stitches. They should be the same as your previous row.
- Continue this pattern until you reach the desired height.
- Fasten off and weave in your ends.
