Are you looking for a fun summertime crochet project? If so, I’ve got a treat for you today- both literally and figuratively! The Sunshine Popsicle Sleeve Cozy crochet pattern is a fun, quick and easy crochet project but also super handy. It’s perfect for keeping little hands comfortable while they indulge in their frosty treat. It will also be a fantastic addition to your shop or market inventory.
After taking a poll on Facebook, I discovered that depending on their age kids prefer a different style of popsicle sleeve over the other, so this is a 2 in 1 pattern.
There is a crochet pattern for an opened ended popsicle sleeve cozy and one for a close ended sleeve.
Scroll down to find the free crochet patterns and let me know which style your kids prefer.
Sunshine Popsicle Sleeve Cozy - Open End
Materials
H8/5mm Crochet Hook
21 yards of cotton yarn (I Love This Cotton, Dishie, & Peaches & Crème)
After Round 8, your work should measure 2 inches tall and 1.75 inches wide.
Measurements should be taken in the middle of your work.
Notes
This pattern uses American Standard Terms.
The chains at the beginning of each row do not count as a stitch.
When you SLST to join on Round 1, there will be a small gap at the bottom of your work. This can be fixed when you weave in your ends.
The finished sleeve is 5 inches tall measured down the center and 1.75 inches wide measured across the center of the sleeve. Measurements are taken before stretching.
The sleeves are tight but stretch. Give them a gentle stretch by placing your fingers on the inside and tugging outwards before using the first time.
Special Stitch
Herringbone Half Double Crochet (HHDC): Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull that loop through the next loop on your hook (kind of like a slip stitch. This will leave you with two loops on your hook. Yarn over, and pull through both loops.
